Well done to all the swimmers who swam in the first round of the Millennium League at Tunbridge Wells. Out of the 32 individual swims, there were 24 new PB’s and 4 swimmers recording an individual time in an event for the first time. Very pleasingly we had no disqualifications which is rare for the Millennium League.
Several swimmers were making their competitive debuts for DDSC. Congratulations to, Tobi Omotayo who won his event in a new 3 second PB, Mason Petter who won his event, Freddie Learmouth, Billy Corrigan and Janhavi Kamdi who all finished second in their events with new PB’s, Isaac Uba who finished third in a new PB and Ava Stubbs who swam so fast she was time faulted. Well done to Afua Agyepong who took six and a half seconds off her 50m Butterfly time and finally Vincent Mason who hasn’t swum competitively for a couple of years and recorded a six second PB in his 50m Butterfly. We recorded eight individual first places and four relay successes.
I understand on the night we announced as the winners, but the recorders had not taken into account any of the swimmers ‘time faulting’. We had seven individual swimmers and one relay team ‘time faulting’, more than any other club, which reduced our points tally significantly and we ended up finishing in 3rd place. Whilst ‘Time Faults’ effect our overall team score, as coaches, they are pleasing to see as they demonstrate significant improvement by the swimmers.
Finally, thank you to Liberty Anscomb and Amy White for their team management, Steve Pye and Steve Anscomb for judging and our Millennium Team Captains , Charlie and Gracie, for supporting the younger and new swimmers.
The next round is on Saturday 27th May 2023 at Eltham Leisure Centre. I will be sending invites out later this month as I am aware this is the beginning of another half term break.
