ROUND 3 – 23/09/2023

Well done to all the swimmers who represented Dartford in the last round of the Kent Junior League this year. It was a very competitive event with many close finishes which was reflected in the overall team scores at the end of the evening. In the individual events, we achieved 11 PB’s out of a total 32 swims, which is very commendable with most of you now competing more regularly at ‘Open’ events so the majority of times are more recent. Notable improvements were made by Georgia Collings, who knocked almost two seconds off her 50m Butterfly time, this coming only three months since she knocked four seconds off in the previous round. Isabella Howe who improved her 50m Freestyle time by exactly a second, Serena Odiah who took almost three seconds off her 50m Breaststroke time, Alex Keeble who reduced his 100m Freestyle time by almost two seconds and Jessica Bathurst who took two and a half seconds off her 100m Breaststroke time. Special shout out to Leo Dedman who was called up to compete at the very last minute and who not only achieved a new PB in his 100m Breaststroke but also helped secure valuable points in the relays. Congratulations to Rocco Pallen, who gained our only individual successes, winning both the 10 years 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly events and to our 10 year old boys freestyle relay team who gained our only relay success.

The Kent Junior League is always a tough competition, but this year we have competed very well finishing 12th out of the 20 clubs taking part. Hopefully we will be able to build on this for next year and achieve a higher finish.

Finally, huge thanks to Amy, Gemma and Jenna for stewarding the children poolside and ensuring all were in place for their races, and to Lucy and Jo who officiated for the club.
