Dartford District Swimming Club (DDSC) is a SwimMark accredited club based at Fairfield Leisure Centre, Dartford, Kent.
DDSC is committed to providing innovative, responsive, and well-structured swimming programs to help develop high performance athletes As a club we are passionately committed to promoting team spirit, nurturing friendships, developing a strong sense of self-discipline and self-confidence through the medium of swimming, we currently have approximately 200 members ranging from the age of 5 up to 17 years.
We offer swimmers a progressive pathway from learn to swim through to competitive swimming with members competing at both county and regional levels. We have an inclusive ethos, balancing participation, and competition. We aim to provide every member an opportunity to achieve their personal goals, whether that is through competitive swimming success or improved fitness.
We are looking for a Performance Coach to build on previous success and continue to grow the Club. The successful candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, and committed, with the ability to motivate and inspire swimmers to reach their full potential. They will provide leadership and be involved across the club, allowing our swimmers to progress to the best of their abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare an appropriate high standard training programme for all levels and undertake regular reviews
- Ensuring the delivery of training is focused on developing skills, technique and progressively physiological training in line with the Optimal Athlete Development Framework (OADF) for junior and age group swimmers
- Together with other coaches, coordinate both timely squad moves for existing Club members, as well as determining entry squad level for new members and attending coach meetings
- Actively encourage swimmers to enter competitions which are appropriate to their level of development. Ensure coach and team manager cover at competitions to provide effective support and feedback to swimmers
- Timely selection of swimmers for the various team events the Club enters currently Millennium League, Tudor League, Kent Junior League & National Arena League
- Be approachable for both swimmers and parents
- Adhere to all Swim England’s Wavepower and Club policies with respect to the safeguarding and welfare of children
Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities & Anti discrimination Legislation:
- Ensure all applicable SwimMark requirements are fully incorporated in the running of all poolside activities, land training and competitions
- Ensure the Welfare Officer is made aware of any accidents, incidents or concerns that might occur during training
- Observing Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, anti discrimination & data protection across all squads, in with with the Club and Swim England code of conduct
- Be aware of both the Clubs and Swim England’s policies, procedures
Requirements:
- Hold a Swim England Swimming Coach certificate/UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification at a minimum
- An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be carried out on the successful candidate
- Possess good organisational and communication skills
- Be approachable to all those involved with the Club; swimmers, parents, coaches and committee
- Have an enthusiasm for the sport and an ability to inspire and motivate others
- Previous experience in coaching to county and regional level preferred
Remuneration:
- Dependent on qualifications and experience
- The Performance Coach will be self-employed and not a direct employee of the club
